About Joshua Sedlecky
Born in Michigan and raised by a strong, single mother of two, I quickly learned the importance of hard work and community. At an early age I was exposed to the deceptive side of the financial industry, leaving a sour taste in my mouth for much of my childhood. Thankfully, my mother made a huge sacrifice for my sister and I, giving us the privilege of attending private schools. I excelled in my studies, but I was particularly drawn to mathematics and numbers. It was not until the 11th grade that I took my first finance course, where I became instantly enamored with the stock market and its compounding effect on money. After taking this course, I realized the lack of financial literacy among not only my peers, but also my role models. This formed my decision to pursue a career in the financial industry, not only to get rid of that sour taste from my childhood but to educate others on how to prosper financially.
During my first year of college, I joined the Financial Services Club, where I was introduced to the XY Planning Network and ultimately Single Point Partners. I began working with Single Point as an intern in the Spring of 2021 and was honored to be elected as the president of the Financial Services Club for my final year of college. In the Spring of 2022, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Michigan University, with a BBA in Personal Financial Planning. Upon graduation, I joined the Single Point team full-time and in May of 2023, I left Michigan and moved here to Boston.
